Charity, myths and legends

Events in recent years, more and more direct me to engage in charitable activities. Several years of working in a rehabilitation center homeless, own business and communication with the various charitable funds from the MSF to Caritas formed a definite opinion about these issues which we wanted to describe in these notes.

«A myth is a sacred story concerning the origins of the world or how the world and the creatures in it came to have their present form.
Myth may also refer to a commonly-held but false belief or a popular conception about a real person or event which exaggerates or idealizes reality.
The term "myth" is often used colloquially to refer to a false story. »

It is difficult to overstate the influence of myths in the mass consciousness, because they permeate all human existence. The persistence of myths is explained, in particular, exceptional durability mythological constructions: subject to change times, names and ideas, but the structural basis of myths remain unchanged.
But I do not want to talk about ancient myths, and the myths generated by the modern world.
Being engaged in a description of modern myths, the French structuralist Roland Barthes said dual function of myth: first, they focused on the deformation of reality in the direction desired by the carrier mythical consciousness, and secondly, the myths have always mask their ideological orientation, because any ideology wants to be perceived as the only possible, natural and existing in itself.
In today's world most distinguished two types of myths, traditional, who are responsible for the spiritual sphere of life, and social myths, and ideologies, which are particularly prevalent in the past century and more active today.
The successful establishments of many modern myths contribute to such factors as incomplete and contradictory information, the concealment of certain facts, the interpretation of real events as strictly positive, the exclusiveness of the proposed plots. All this led to the birth of myths about the charity and its funds. In these myths, intricately combines fear and fiction, subjectivity and bias, lies and misinformation. Among which, one can identify a few basic.
Charity no, and the funds are to launder money of the rich and help them evade taxes.
Charity is, but the true charity - it is the distribution of assets to the poor and help with global catastrophes.
Charity in the society exists only because the state can not cope with their duties.
If we are to help, the only directly, not through the foundations and community organizations.
Philanthropic work only those who atone for sins.
Charity in the society exists only because the state can not cope with their duties.
Charity teaches consumerism.
Charitable organizations are spending money on administrative costs.

Next I will try to dispel these myths and tell the truth and true charity.
